Montgomery County hit hard with flooding

Posted: Updated:

A river flood warning is in effect for the New River. Officials say the river rose several inches above flood level. While the water is expected to drop down by late Thursday afternoon, it certainly has taken its toll on surrounding residents.

Shawsville neighborhoods saw first hand, just how fast the heavy rainfall made the mighty river rise.

Resident Roger Dull said the river started rising around 10 P.M. Wednesday night.

"It rose way above where it normally does up by the banks," Dull said.

For now, he along with many of his neighbors have water-front property.
