Tree still on Roanoke County home a month after storm

Posted: Updated:

A Roanoke County woman finds herself in sort of the perfect storm.

A tree fell on her house almost a month ago, she's in between insurance companies, so she doesn't have coverage, and the recent rain is holding up crews from removing the fallen oak.

With nowhere to turn Ginny Owen called Rebuilding Together.

To her surprise Building Integrity stepped forward and also volunteered their services.

"We hope we're making a difference.  If we can just give her some sort of hope that all is not lost and that she'll get back here eventually, that's what we would love to do," explained Mike Patrouch, owner of Building Integrity.

"Sometimes watching the news is disheartening and then I've learned from this people are good.  People are really good and folks I don't even know have come to help me and that's a wonderful lessons.  That's really wonderful," explained Owen.

Tree removal crews hope to get the tree off the house once it finally stops raining at the beginning of next week.
