Two dogs were released after someone broke into a Greenville kennel Thursday night.  One dog was found and returned, a second didn't make it home.

It happened at Helen's Grooming World and Dog Motel.

Kennel manager Cora Tyson tells 9 On Your Side her daughter left her cell phone charger at the kennel and went to get it after Greenville's 4th of July fireworks. When she got there she noticed someone tried to take the frame off the back door and the back gate was missing.

"I'm just very sad that they would even think of doing something like this.  It's just not right," said Tyson.

Upon further investigation, Tyson says they noticed one of the cages was also kicked in. The two black labs staying inside the cage were gone.

Animal Control officers spent several hours Thursday night searching for the dogs.  Tyson says they searched well past 2 a.m. Friday.

Tyson says the dogs were not wearing collars.  They respond to "Sir Lancelot" and "Billabong."

Billabong was found Friday morning when someone saw 9 On Your Side's broadcast and noticed the dog wondering around the 10th street area.  Billabong has been returned to the kennel.

Sir Lancelot was found Wednesday morning after being hit by a car on 10th street.  Animal Control tells 9 On Your Side the dog made it's way into a woman's back yard after being hit and passed away.

The investigation is still ongoing.
