Dogs at Virginia Tech's vet school become chemo buddies

Posted: Updated:

It's hard to beat the warmth and love that a dog can bring into someone's home and two local canines have found love in an unexpected place.

Both Riley and Miss M have been undergoing chemotherapy treatments together at the Virginia Tech vet school, supporting each other the whole way.

We've heard of people having chemo buddies, but the two furry friends have even schedule appointments for the same time.

"Normally everyone is separated in their own cages, but they just do so well together and they prefer to be together.  We were doing Riley's chemo and Miss M came over and laid by him and just kind of put her head on him," said Stefanie Olsen, Licensed Vet Tech.

"I don't think that a lot of people realize that dogs can have buddies, both of them having cancer at the same time, it's kind of special," explained Miss M's owner, David Mills.

Riley and Miss M's connection is so special David and his wife hope to set up play dates for the dogs after their last treatment and hopefully they can celebrate being cancer free together.
