Boston marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be arraigned in federal court this afternoon. It will be his first public appearance.

A final vote is set for today in the Texas state House on new restrictions that would ban abortions after 20 weeks in most cases. The bill would even dictate when abortion pills are taken and require doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

Tropical Storm Chantal is threatening to turn into a hurricane as it churns toward Haiti and the Dominican Republic, where it's expected to strike by this afternoon. Dominican officials are telling people living in low-lying areas to evacuate, but few are taking heed.

Massachusetts Democrat Edward Markey will be sworn-in today as the newest U.S. Senator. He won a special election two weeks ago to fill the seat of former senator and current Secretary of State John Kerry.

A traffic alert in Roanoke County beginning at 8 a.m. this morning. A section of Route 1767 (Old Farm Road) will be closed for emergency pipe repairs.

The right lane of westbound Route 460 in Giles County just west of Mountain Lake Road is closed because of a sinkhole. It's expected to be fixed today.

AARP's state director will be in Roanoke County today leading a discussion on proposed changes to Medicare and Social Security. It's free event from 10:30 a.m.to noon at the South County Library.
