Heavy rain is possible across southwest Virginia through Thursday.
A very humid air mass is in place. Along and ahead of a cold front, showers and thunderstorms are expected to form. With humidity so high, storms that form will be efficient rain makers. With storms moving slowly, localized area of heavy rain will be possible.
On average, an inch to an inch and a half of rain is expected, but thunderstorms could produce rainfall totals locally up to four inches.
Flash flood watches and warnings may be issued as the rain continues to form and the cold front approaches.
