A Russian official of Amnesty International says he plans to meet with NSA leaker Edward Snowden today but he's not saying where. Snowden is believed to be stuck in the transit zone of Moscow's airport while he negotiates for asylum in another country.

The little girl known to much of the world as Malala will make a speech to the United Nations today, her 16th birthday. Malala Yousufzai became well known last year after she was shot in the head by the Taliban after leading a campaign for the education of women.

The town of Rocky Mount is hoping weather today doesn't cancel its Independence Day Festival at Franklin County High School. The free family friendly event begins at 5:00 p.m. after being postponed last week because of rain.
