Appalachian Power won't seek fuel rate hike

Posted: Updated:
ROANOKE, VA -

Appalachian Power (APCo) says it will NOT ask the State Corporation Commission (SCC) for an increase in its fuel rate.

That's the amount APCo looks to recover for its costs of what it uses to make electricity.  APCo says it does not profit from money charged for the fuel rate.

The current fuel factor rate is 2.953 cents per kilowatt-hour, and has been at that rate since June of 2012.

APCo's request will be approved or possibly changed by the SCC later this year.
