Wake Co. child battling illness gets dream room makeover

WAKE FOREST, N.C. -

They're making a difference in the lives of children, one bedroom makeover at a time.

Special Spaces of the Triangle creates dream rooms for kids facing life threatening illnesses.

On Saturday, a very special 3-year-old in Wake Forest got the room of his dreams

"Tucker has Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia or PCD for short," explained Katie Connor's Martin, director of Special Spaces of the Triangle. "It leaves him very susceptible to pneumonia, bronchitis, ear infections, massive sinus infections, he's been in the hospital numerous times he's undergone multiple surgeries."

"Really he's a trooper he has been through it and does it with a smile and a happy heart," said Meghan Jordan, Tucker's mom.

And his happy heart was about to be a lot happier in his brand new room.

The makeover was a surprise for Tucker. He and his family spent the day doing activities in Raleigh thanks to donations for local businesses.

After two months of planning and a full day's work, the more than 30 volunteers created a fishing and hunting enthusiast's dream room

"It's really just a getaway for him that he can go in and enjoy and just be a kid and not have the worries of the medical side," said Tucker's mom.

The family was overwhelmingly grateful.

"It's very rewarding," said Tammy Granger, lead designer on the room. "You think you're going to be a blessing to them but at the end of the day you realized you were the one that was blessed."

A blessing the Jordan family will share for many years.
