Lynchburg fire destroys workshop

LYNCHBURG, VA -

An overnight fire damaged a home in Lynchburg.

Jerry Womack of the Brookville Timberlake Volunteer fire department in Forest says it happened about 1 a.m.

He says the fire started in the basement of a house on Rainbow Forest Drive in Lynchburg and damaged the whole work shop area in the basement. 

Womack says it may have started due to electrical issues.

It took about 25 people from two fire companies about two hours to put the fire out.

The American Red Cross disaster workers responded and providing financial assistance for two adults to help with meals and lodging, and will continue to coordinate recovery assistance.
