A WSLS viewer reports there has been a rock slide in Botetourt County.
We're told it happened in Eagle Rock near Salt Peter Cave Road and the rocks are covering some train tracks there.
It is a CSX owned railroad track that about
15 trains travel on average every day according to Gary Sease, a spokesman for
CSX. He says they found out about the rock slide Saturday at 5:30 a.m. when a
train called in to report it. They have been working since to clear the line.
Sease says they expect to have the tracks
cleared sometime tonight and then will work to catch up on train traffic that
had to be rerouted.
He says it's not clear what caused the rockslide but they do occur from time to time
along the tracks especially after the area gets saturated during heavy rain.
There were no injuries.
