RALEIGH, N.C. -

A defamation lawsuit filed last year by an ex-North Carolina Democratic Party employee against the party and its chairman regarding allegations of sexual harassment has been dismissed, but it could be revived later.

A Superior Court judge dismissed last month causes of action filed by Adriadn Ortega. His attorney also filed a motion two weeks ago to dismiss the case voluntarily in such a way so the lawsuit could be refiled in a year.

Ortega last year accused the party and then-Chairman David Parker of libel and slander when Parker addressed the harassment case Ortega filed and talked about a confidential settlement.

Records show Ortega accused then-party Executive Director Jay Parmley of sexual harassment and of being fired in retaliation. Parmley resigned but denied any harassment.
