The Virginia Department of Transportation has allocated a fresh $200,000 to possibly pump new life into the Elliston intermodal proposal, Roanoke city's economic development director Wayne Bowers confirmed.
The state earmarked the money for another feasibility study.
The last feasibility study on the proposal was performed in 2008.
Bowers told Roanoke city council this afternoon the hope is that the study will show Norfolk Southern the need for an intermodal facility is still there.
The Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission will handle administering the money for the study.
