BEDFORD COUNTY, VA -

A three-car crash sent a woman to the hospital Monday evening State Police said.

According to Salem district spokesman Sgt. Robert Carpentieri, the crashes took place shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Route 221, about three-tenths of a mile north of Route 666, near the Forest Square Shopping Center.

The investigating trooper found that 75-year-old Gloria Gross, of Bedford, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala.  Gross pulled out of a business parking lot, and was hit by a Suzuki Sidekick being driven by 20-year-old Kayla Landon, of Lynchburg.

That impact spun Gross' Chevy into the southbound lane, where her car was hit a second time by a 1994 Chevrolet SUV being driven by 48-year-old Mark Funk, of Bedford.

EMTs took Landon to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  She's expected to recover.

State Police believe Gross pulled out in front of Landon improperly.   The investigating trooper charged her with failure to yield the right of way.
