Roanoke County police say state police bomb techs have rendered two potential suspicious devices safe.

A few neighbors had to be evacuated but are back in their homes now.

Orlando Avenue had also been shut down but is now back open.

From Scott Leamon, WSLS reporter in the field

A Virginia State Police bomb squad is currently investigating a suspicious package at Bill Long Jr.'s Roanoke County home.

It's in the 200 block of Orlando Avenue, in northeast Roanoke County.

Long is charged with kidnapping and a gun related crime, after a long standoff with police that started Monday afternoon and ended around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.

I'm working to gather additional facts about the investigation, and will bring you live updates starting on WSLS at 5 p.m.
