Franklin County Teen Disproving 'Girls Can't Race' Stereotype

Posted: Updated:

Dual sport athletes are a pretty common occurrence in today's high school world.

Many kids play multiple sports and exceed but one franklin county teen is kicking that in to high gear.

Emily Ison cheers for Franklin County High School but on the weekends she is a speed demon, racing Jr. Dragsters all over the state.

The 14 year old said she was scared at first when she got behind the wheel, but the only time she feels the nerves nowadays is when she is in the staging lanes.

She also is doing her part in disallowing the stereotype that "girl's cant race". Well she silenced the critics a few weeks ago at a Motor Mile Dragway when she won the Jr. Dragster division. Emily will head to a national competition at Bristol Dragway July 19th through the 21st.
