Take note of a traffic change in Roanoke County before you head out. Weather permitting, the existing lane on eastbound Colonial Avenue at Cave Spring Kroger that serves as a through lane, and left turn lane will be designated an exclusive left turn lane. The change is intended to improve safety and help with traffic flow.

Ted Cruz, A freshman senator from Texas will be the keynote speaker at the Republican Party of Iowa's summer picnic today. He's thought to be weighing a 2016 presidential bid and planning trip to New Hampshire and Florida, two other key states in the presidential race, this summer.

Also today, the President and First Lady will host a reception for the Foreign Diplomatic Corps at the White House. Members include ambassadors, diplomats and other dignitaries representing foreign countries across the globe.

The Commonwealth Games open tonight. The parade of athletes begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Roanoke Civic Center.
