Athletes from around Virginia compete in Commonwealth Games

ROANOKE, VA -

The Subway Commonwealth Games are underway in southwest Virginia.

New this year is the CrossFit competition. Brickhouse CrossFit in downtown Roanoke hosted the games today.

Almost fourty athletes from Roanoke, Lynchburg, Radford and Richmond competed to see who could do as many rounds as possible of exercises like squats, pullups, overhead lifts and more.

Also new this year the Strong Man competition.

Skateboarders also competed in Bedford Saturday at Falling Creek State Park. There will be 2 separate contests; one of which will be referred to as "Park", and will allow the skater to use any feature within the skatepark boundaries (except for the large bowl).  The second event will the "Bowl" Contest, and will take place in the large bowl.
