BOTETOURT COUNTY -
Wet weather put a damper on the Subway Commonwealth Baseball Games in Botetourt County Sunday.

All four of the fields at the Botetourt Sports Complex were flooded mid-game from an afternoon rainstorm. It was so bad that the games actually had to be canceled.

Directors at the field say the storm only lasted about half an hour, the rain gauges at the field collected about an inch and a half worth of rain.

The dugouts even got a few inches of standing water -- so much so that field managers had to sandbag the entrances.

Heavy wind caused quite a bit of damage as well -- bending several metal umbrella stands nearly in half, and destroying several tents that were thrown around the stadium.

Officials at the complex are sending out crews Monday morning to start cleaning up the field, in preparation for a series of games next week.

The Commonwealth Games that were scheduled for Sunday will not be rescheduled.
