Update: 1 dead, 2 hurt in northeast Roanoke

ROANOKE, VA -

Update:

Police say a man was found dead in the backyard of a house on the 100 block of Houston Avenue in Roanoke Sunday night with a gun next to him. Another man and a woman were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial for gunshot wounds. Police say they know who's responsible and there is no danger to the community.

One person is found dead in the backyard of a home on the 100 block of Houston Avenue in Northeast Roanoke.

Roanoke Police detectives are investigating the incident which happened in the late afternoon on Sunday at 148 and 152 Houston Avenue.

Police say one person is dead and two people are hurt. Police have not released any names, pending notification of next of kin.

Neighbors told WSLS10 that they heard gunshots coming from one of the homes.

Police say the person responsible for the shooting is known and there is no threat of danger to the surrounding community.
