BEDFORD COUNTY, VA -

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says it arrested and charged a man following a motorcycle chase this past Friday, July 19th.

According to Major Ricky Gardner, a deputy on patrol spotted a motorcycle going 78 miles per hour at 7:06 p.m., on Route 460 westbound in Thaxton.

The deputy tried to pull the motorcycle rider over, but he sped off east on Route 460.  A chase began, and speeds reached up to 100 MPH.

Maj. Gardner says the chase ended when the rider tried to make a turn from Route 460 onto East Main Street/Link Road, then lost control, and crashed.

EMTs took 23-year-old Alexander T. Turner to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was released on Sunday, and charged with:

  • Felony eluding a police officer
  • Driving while on a revoked license

Maj. Gardner added that Turner has since been released on bond.
