Montgomery County traffic checkpoint leads to 4 arrests

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, VA -

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on Monday, released numbers from its traffic checkpoint overnight Friday, July19th, through early Saturday, July 20th.

Deputies set-up on Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) between 10 p.m. Friday, and 2:30 a.m. Saturday.  Here are the results from the checking of 619 vehicles:

  • DUI arrests - 1
  • Drug arrests - 1
  • Criminal arrests - 2
  • No operator's license or CDL - 15
  • Expired inspections - 8
  • Driving while suspended - 7
  • Non-working lights - 7
  • Expired/no registration - 5
  • Brake problems - 1
  • No insurance - 1
  • Improper/no child safety seat - 1
  • Other traffic citations - 4


A grant from the DMV paid for the checkpoint.
