JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Tim Cable anchored his final WJHL-TV newscast and reported his last edition of "Cable Country" on Wednesday, ending a 25 year run in local TV news.

"I just knew it was time," Tim said.  "After a lot of prayer and a lot of discussions with my family, I decided now was a good time."

Tim joined News Channel 11 in November of 1987 as a production assistant.  "My first day on the job, I ran studio cameras and loaded scripts on the TelePrompTer."    His background in radio prepared him for work in the news department where Tim soon landed a job as a general assignment news videographer and reporter.   But his skills at feature reporting quickly became clear.   "I just had a knack for it," Tim said.   "And I was fortunate to work in a place that let me be on air."

Two years later, Cable Country became a regular segment on WJHL-TV newscasts.   Over the years, Tim produced 2,970 segments about the people and places that make the Tri-Cities Region so special.   "It was always about the people," he said.  "They were what kept me going all through the years."

In addition to feature reporting, Tim anchored news, sports, and weather.   "I was willing to try it all, and I'm so appreciative that our viewers were willing to allow me into their homes."

Tim says he's still trying to figure out what's next.   "I know that God is in control," he said.  "He always has been, and he always will be."

Check out Tim's final goodbye on News Channel 11 at 6pm as well as a "web extra" video clip that didn't make it into the story.   We've also put together a photo gallery of Tim through the years.

Congratulations Tim!  We'll miss you.
