    WJHL is honoring long-time employee Tim Cable by airing a special series called the Best of Cable Country.  Since 1987, Cable has reported on the people and places of the Tri-Cities. 
    Since 1987, Cable has reported on the people and places of the Tri-Cities. After 25 years, he has decided to step back from the television business.  "I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my career and I'm excited about the next challenge ahead."

    An arrest Saturday led to some witnesses thinking the arresting officers went a little far.In a video sent to WSPA-TV, a man can be seen lying on the floor of the Walmart on Whitehorse Road and the deputies attempting to arrest him. Witnesses from the scene felt the officer's actions went too far

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Tim Cable anchored his final WJHL-TV newscast and reported his last edition of "Cable Country" on Wednesday, ending a 25 year run in local TV news.

"I just knew it was time," Tim said.  "After a lot of prayer and a lot of discussions with my family, I decided now was a good time."

Tim joined News Channel 11 in November of 1987 as a production assistant.  "My first day on the job, I ran studio cameras and loaded scripts on the TelePrompTer."    His background in radio prepared him for work in the news department where Tim soon landed a job as a general assignment news videographer and reporter.   But his skills at feature reporting quickly became clear.   "I just had a knack for it," Tim said.   "And I was fortunate to work in a place that let me be on air."

Two years later, Cable Country became a regular segment on WJHL-TV newscasts.   Over the years, Tim produced 2,970 segments about the people and places that make the Tri-Cities Region so special.   "It was always about the people," he said.  "They were what kept me going all through the years."

In addition to feature reporting, Tim anchored news, sports, and weather.   "I was willing to try it all, and I'm so appreciative that our viewers were willing to allow me into their homes."

Tim says he's still trying to figure out what's next.   "I know that God is in control," he said.  "He always has been, and he always will be."
