PULASKI COUNTY, VA -

11:39 UPDATE: Ernest Compton bonded out of jail and is no longer in police custody.

----------------------------------------------------

A father and son are behind bars after being arrested in Pulaski County.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says 62-year old Ernest Compton, who is also a teacher Pulaski County High School, was charged with malicious wounding and abduction.

Capt. Brian Wade says Reba Compton, Ernest's former daughter-in-law, went to a home on Overlook Lane in Pulaski County to pick up some items. Wade says Ernest asked her to go out to a building on the property and that's where he held her down on the ground, physically assaulted her and kept her from being able to leave. There were no weapons involved according to the Sheriff's Office.

We're told she got away and went the Kroger's parking lot in Fairlawn where law enforcement was contacted and she went to the hospital for treatment of scrapes and scratches. She told law enforcement she was nine weeks pregnant.

The sheriff's office says Brett Compton, 28, came to the home and assaulted a police officer. Capt. Wade says a female investigator was holding a child, waiting for social services to show up when Brett Compton grabbed the officer around the throat and pushed her down before officers could pull him away. The child was not hurt.

Brett Compton is charged with obstruction of justice, child endangerment, and felony assault and battery of an officer.

The investigation is still ongoing.

We're told Ernest Compton teaches electricity at the Career Technical Center at Pulaski County High School and was planning on returning in the fall.

The Pulaski County Superintendent Thomas Brewster says the school system was told about the incident Wednesday but cannot comment because it's a personnel matter. He says Pulaski County schools have policies in place when teachers are charged.

We've called the Commonwealth Attorney's Office but have not heard back.

A judge increased Ernest Compton's bond today in court to $250,000 up from $75,000. Brett Compton is being held without bond. Their lawyers have not returned our calls.

it's not clear what started the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
