New home to give Wythe County woman her life back

Posted: Updated:

Brooke Lipscomb spent four months in the hospital recovering after a tree fell on her house in April of 2011, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.

Her home was destroyed, so Brooke turned to Hope Ministries and Kathi Mineer for help with housing.

Kathi got Brooke a loan and the second House of Hope build starts in September.

So far, the community's response has moved Brooke to tears.

"Having support is important and I didn't have that at first and then the community coming together for everything has meant everything to me and it makes me want to live again, because I forgot how to live and I do want to live again and I think this is giving me the chance," she said.

Hope Ministries helped Brooke to get a loan to cover 60-percent of the project.  Mineer is looking for donations and skilled laborers to help with the other 40-percent.
