While it may be in its twelfth year, the year 2013 has brought a lot of "firsts" for FloydFest.
This year has drawn in record breaking crowds. Across the Way Productions Linda DeVito says that around 15,200 people are on the grounds of FloydFest this year.
She credits the events ongoing success to the big name headliner bands. This year there is one big name for each night.
The show began with the Lumineers on stage and ends with another major act. DeVito says it's all a part of the events strategy to bring in big crowds.
"It is called book ending," DeVito said. "that increases your likely hood for selling four day tickets. And it works. This year the Lumineers played last night and we will close with Old Crow Medicine show. On tonight's main stage our headliner is the John Butler Trio and tomorrow is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Basically it has sold us out two weeks plus before the event."
The record crowds and big names are expected to draw in even more interest to the event next year. Something DeVito says is already in the works.
