ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, VA -

A Rockbridge County high school art teacher appeared in court Wednesday for a bond hearing following charges of sexual assault.

Greg Staton is charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Florida on July 2nd.

Investigators say it happened in Santa Rosa County, which is near Pensacola after he met the girl online.

Judge Michael Irvin set Staton's cash only bond at $100,000. If Staton meets bond the Judge also ordered that he not leave Rockbridge County and wear home monitoring bracelets.

He remains in Middle River jail.

A spokesman for the Rockbridge County school system said Staton is suspended pending the outcome of his trial.
