School supplies needed for Back 2 School Blast

ROANOKE -

The Back 2 School Blast still needs school supplies to help more than 1500 children in need before the start of the upcoming school year.

They are asking for donations of pencils, paper, crayons, notebooks and anything else school supply related. You can drop your donation from now until August 5 at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

Families have been picking up vouchers for shoes, bookbags, immunizations, school physicals and more at Manna Ministries in Vinton and the Roanoke Rescue Mission. You can pick up a voucher until 8 tonight.

"To see those kids when they get those bookpacks and they model those bookpacks and the new shoes for their moms and everybody that asks it's just so much fun," said Janice Gregory with Manna Ministries.

The supplies will be given out on a first-come first-served basis to people with vouchers on Monday, August 12 from at Parkway Wesleyan church.
