Renovations at the Roanoke Regional Airport are finally nearing completion. It's been nearly 6 months since the construction started, now all of the gates in the concourse have been finished and are open to the public. Just this week new flooring was installed on the ground lever. It's all part of a plan that say was long overdue.
"We all call this the new terminal, but it's almost 25 years old so it was definitely time for a rehab," says manager for marketing and air service development, Sherry Wallace. "Plus we wanted to add more conveniences for travelers. Particularly what we call a charging bar, places where people can plug in tablet and phone and get power."
The final touches are now being put on the renovations, and construction is expected to wrap up by the end of August.
