Redskins Rookie Stars Look to Make Impact

Posted: Updated:

They have become the best of friends, and they'll need to be a dynamic duo on the field if the Redskins are hoping to improve their secondary play this season. Rookies David Amerson and Baccari Rambo both have a shot to be in the Redskins starting lineup come the opening Sunday of the season.

Amerson is a second round pick out of NC State, while Rambo is a sixth rounder out of Georgia. Amerson is currently holding down the spot held by 7th year veteran Josh Wilson who is rehabbing a left shoulder surgery. Rambo is playing at free safety with last year's starter, Madieu Williams, no longer with the team.

Amerson is a 6-foot-1, 205-pounder, who in the past two seasons recorded 18 interceptions.  It is clear the Redskins are hoping the two rookie talents can be play makers and get significant playing time. With the opposite corner, DeAngelo Hall, nursing an ankle injury, Amerson should get plenty of preseason looks to show his stuff.
