There's a court hearing this morning related to Detroit's bankruptcy declaration. The judge will hear arguments on his proposed schedule for motions to be filed and later, the trial.

A house oversight committee will hold a hearing this morning on ID theft tax fraud at the IRS. The subcommittee believes this is a skyrocketing problem.

The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers Committee is hosting its Gubernatorial Candidates' Forum at Wytheville Community College from 1:30-5:00 p.m.. Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe will discuss their plans to help agriculture and forestry prosper. It's not open to the public.

There will be a reception for a new art exhibit at Virginia Tech's Norris Hall from 1:00 to 2:00 this afternoon. The Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention and the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics' show, Sum of the Parts includes individual and collaborative pieces.

Olympic runner Todd Williams will share secrets runners need to finish the Genworth Virginia 10 Miler races safe and injury free. Runners will meet at Riverside Runners in Lynchburg at 5:30 p.m.. Williams will hold a workshop Saturday at Randolph College's Presser Hall at 10 a.m..

It's day five of Q99's Pack the Bus campaign. Donate school supplies at the Rocky Mount and Pearisburg Walmarts from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m..
