A new Virginia Tech center has been created to focus on creating better tools to manage environmental sustainability.
The College of Natural Resources and the Environment has created the Center for Natural Resources Assessment and Decision Support.
Housed with the college's Conservation Management Institute in the Corporate Research Center, the center will provide data sets of forest resource conditions, computer models that are designed for use by industry, government and policymakers, and assist in adapting models and data for specific applications.
It will also offer research and internship opportunities for students.
The Nature Conservancy has committed funding to the center, as well as many corporations, including Dominion Resources, Enviva, MWV, and RockTen..
