NC Turnpike Authority tweaks invoice mailing cycle

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is now mailing out invoices during the first week in August to first-time users of the Triangle Expressway, an adjustment it's hoped will reduce the number of invoices going out with small amounts.

Under the previous billing cycle, 14 percent of first time users on the Triangle Expressway received bills of less than $5.00. The new invoices will now include tolls accumulated over a 30-day billing cycle instead of a 15-day period.

Director of Turnpike Operations John Breedlove says the change better aligns the authority's billing process with the significant ridership increase in 2013 and makes the entire operation more efficient.
