N.C. State running back Shadrach Thornton faces assault on a female charges and has a court date for Aug. 22.
Thornton is accused of grabbing a woman by the arm and pushing her against a wall, according to court documents.
The incident happened June 5, according to the documents and Thornton was given a bond of $1,500.
"We were made aware of the situation in June and Shadrach was suspended immediately," coach Dave Doeren said, according to a statement obtained by The Wolfpacker. "We have certain standards that we want our players to live by, on and off the field, and he did not live up to those standards. He had to earn his way back into team activities."
Thornton, 6 feet 1 and 203 pounds, led State in rushing with 694 yards as a freshman.
