Alexis Murphy's car found in Albemarle County

The Albemarle County Sheriff confirms the white Nissan Maxima of Alexis Murphy was found in the parking lot of Carmike Cinemas on Route 29 North.

Police from Nelson County, the Virginia State Police, and the FBI are looking for the missing teen. Alexis Tiara Murphy was last seen on the evening of August 3rd, 2013 at around 7:15 p.m. at her home in Lovingston. At the time, she was wearing a pink blouse, floral-print full-length spandex pants, and brown boots. She was carrying a dark and light colored gray purse.

Here is the description of Alexis provided by police:

  • Black female
  • 5 foot 7 inches tall
  • 156 pounds
  • Black hair and brown eyes

More than 50 police officers and analysts are currently involved in the search for Alexis. The search area extents for 30 miles north and south of Lovingston. Many tips have been received, and officials are reviewing all of them and conducting interviews.
