Colonels get Fresh Start Under Bobby Martin

Posted: Updated:

William Fleming's last three seasons produced a combined three wins. In steps Coach Bobby Martin from GW Danville,  where his Eagles were an 8-2 playoff team a year ago.  He'll try to rebuild a program that hasn't had a winning season since a 6-3 campaign in 2009.  Martin says it all begins with instilling the work ethic and values he learned growing up in Henry county.  Martin spent 15 seasons coaching various sports at George Washington Danville, including  the job of defensive coordinator under 4 different head coaches. He brings a wealth of teaching and coaching experience to William Fleming, where the Colonels have all the trappings of a big-time program--including a new stadium complete with turf, a pair of irrigated practice fields, and a brand new locker room facility and school. Martin says the Colonels will play whatever style gives them the best chance to win-and he will base that on what his personnel can do.  The Colonels move to the Blue Ridge District this year with the dismantling of the Western Valley District.
