Finding the time, motivation to work out

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Exercise has been known to improve a person's quality of live, however finding the time and energy can be extremely difficult for some of us.

"Exercise improves your mood, it boosts your brain power so it helps you get through the day, so it helps you deal with work related stress," said Bekah Moran, personal trainer.

Morgan says the days of working out for an hour or more are over.

"Even if it's just 10 minutes a day, consistency is really the key," said Morgan. "All the research shows it's really not about duration. It's about intensity. So, if you have a focus routine and you're really pushing yourself, you really don't need that much time."

Morgan likes circuit training, which is when you do several different exercises with little to no break time in between and then repeat it for about 15 to 20 minutes.

So what if you want to burn calories quickly and still get in a full body work out?

"Start with a low wide jump side to side...both feet jumping side to side," said Morgan.

Morgan says to do that for 30 minutes, then take a 30 second break and repeat the circuit three times.

If you're someone that likes to burn calories on the treadmill, run, don't just walk. Morgan encourages people to use and incline and adjust the speed 30 to 45 seconds. Then take the incline back down to flat and walk for about two minutes.

But when it comes to exercise, Morgan says find what works for you. For those with busy lives, try working out 10 minutes in the morning and then again at night.
