Alexis Murphy family talks about positive & negative social media posts

Posted: Updated:
NELSON COUNTY, VA -

Jasmine Murphy shows us a video of missing teen, Alexis Murphy, filled with energy and life.

"She's very fun to be around, always laughing and loves clothes and music," cousin, Jasmine Murphy says.

Facebook and Twitter have lit up since the Alexis Murphy's disappearance.

"I think social media has played a big part in how far the FBI and police have got," Murphy says.

Though some comments Jasmine says are just painful to read, with some users discouraging her and her family from having hope.

"It hurts because they don't know our family and we are leaning on hope and faith," Murphy says. "We feel she's still alive and for someone with no clue or facts to say something like that just hurts."

While, posters of Alexis Murphy's disappearance also have some questioning other missing girl cases in the area.

The Orange County Commonwealth Attorney says there is a connection between the 2010 disappearance of 19-year-old  Samantha Clark and that's Randy Taylor.

Investigators say Taylor called Clark on her phone five times just hours before her disappearance. Though he was never charged with anything in that case, his arrests in regards to Alexis is giving the Murphy family something to hold onto.

The hope is to turn these posts from 'Find Alexis Murphy to 'Alexis is Home.'
