VDOT will blast this morning along southbound Interstate 81 on Christiansburg Mountain. State Police will slow traffic in both directions to keep the area near the blast clear of traffic beginning at 10:30 a.m..

The department of defense will announce same sex spouses serving in the military will be eligible for a range of benefits provided to married heterosexual couples. It will take affect as soon as September 3rd.

Former Chicago Congressman Jesse Jackson Junior and his wife Sandra will both be sentenced this morning in Washington, DC after pleading guilty to stealing some $750,000 from his campaign fund. Jackson is hoping for probation.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and her husband Giuseppe will be arraigned this afternoon. The couple was indicted on 39 counts, including conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud.

The Roanoke Health Department will offer school immunizations today. Walk-ins will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m..

The Kirk Family YMCA will host a "GROUP KICK" launch tonight. It's a workout with a kick at 5:30 p.m..
