Roanoke's board of supervisors has scheduled a public hearing to gather comments on a new scrap metal permit law.
On July 1st Virginia required all municipalities to enforce permits to sell scrap metal.
The law came with little notice and has left many towns and cities scrambling to figure out ways to enforce it.
As of right now, Roanoke has not enforced the new rule.
On September 10th the County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the new law and how the community thinks Roanoke should enforce it.
