Fewer people have been seeking help to pay their electric bills this summer but money is available through today if you need it.
Thursday is the last day of the Department of Social Services' cooling assistance program. To qualify, someone in the home has to be a child under six. a person with a disability or a senior. There are also income requirements.
A number of types of assistance are available. "They can provide help with electric bills," explained Department of Social Service administrator Steven Martin. "Sometimes they can help with the purchase of a fan or installation of a window air conditioning unit."
