Wake County parents are still looking for answers after two children got on the wrong school vans and were taken to the wrong after-school daycare center Tuesday.

Police say Lori Spivey's daughter, Ava Washington, and another child got on the wrong vans at Preeminent Charter School in Raleigh and ended up at Kids Playworld, an after-school daycare that neither child attended.

Spivey said the kids stayed at the daycare center for several hours before police found them. But Spivey said she wants to know why Playworld didn't notice the lost kids in their building, and how the charter school allowed it to happen.

For the second day in a row, Playworld refused to talk to WNCN. And at Preeminent Charter School, the principal said she was told not to answer questions from the media.

The Department of Public Instruction oversees charter schools like Preeminent, but the DPI said it would not investigate the school or the incident until the school's own school board completes an independent investigation.

The school board also refused to comment on the incident.

Still, Spivey is waiting for the same answers.

"Who is responsible?," she asked

In a written statement, Preeminent Charter School acknowledged that it is conducting an investigation.

Meanwhile, the state says Kids Playworld is not a state-licensed daycare center, due to the limited hours of service it provides. So its actions are not monitored by DHHS.
