Alexis Murphy's family speaks out against negative comments about daughter on social media

Posted: Updated:

Alexis' mother and aunt say they are disgusted with the picture abduction suspect, Randy Taylor, is trying to paint of Alexis Murphy.

They say that is not the Alexis they know and regardless of what may have been on the teen's social media accounts, that is no reason for someone to be abducted.

They say a 17-year-old athlete having anything to do with a 48-year-old with a criminal history, just doesn't add up.

"That's just a story that's not my daughter, my daughter wouldn't do that," Alexis' mother, Laura Murphy says.

Though, Randy Taylor's court appointed lawyer, Michael Hallahan shares his client's side of the story and urges people not to be so quick to judge.

"I'm disappointed," attorney Michael Hallahan says. "They just need to let the case breathe."

Taylor says a black male in his mid-to late 20's with cornrows and a burgundy caprice should be at the center of the investigation not him.

Taylor admits to seeing Murphy the day she disappeared at the Liberty gas station in Lovingston.

He claims she says, she knew a guy who he could get marijuana from and then Murphy, Taylor, and this unidentified man, went back to Taylor's camper where the drug deal went down.

Taylor says the man and Murphy left before sundown.

Taylor's claims of Murphy being involved with drugs is something her family says they would have noticed.

"I've never smelled it on her. Her pupils were never dilated. There was no indication what's so ever," Alexis' Aunt Trina Murphy says.

While there are thousands of posts on social media supporting the teen's family, the few that attack Alexis is making a devastation situation only worse. .

"I don't want the message to get out there because you put something on Twitter or you take a picture of yourself you deserve to be kidnapped or abducted," Trina Murphy says. "I want people to chose their words carefully."
