Blacksburg to celebrate promenade with bike parade

Blacksburg will celebrate the completion of the College Avenue Promenade project which eliminated one lane of traffic in exchange for a pedestrian area.

They'll celebrate with a musical bike parade from the Municipal Building to the promenade. The parade begins at 6:15. A ribbon cutting will follow on Henderson Lawn. There will also be live music.

The promenade project was designed in an effort to make downtown Blacksburg more of a gathering place. it features bricked sidewalks and a one way street for cars. Town Council granted 10 businesses outdoor dining licenses Tuesday. They hope the project and outdoor dining will attract more people and boost business.
