Just as more students are heading back to school, the Virginia Department of Education is expected to release Standards of Learning pass rate results today. School accreditation results will not be released yet.

The Virginia Recreational Facilities Board of Directors which oversees Explore Park will have its regular meeting this morning. It begins at 10:30 at the Visitor Center in Explore Park.

Franklin County Board of Supervisors will meet beginning at 1:30. They'll get an update on a new landfill from the director of public works.

VDOT will hold a public hearing from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at William Campbell Combined School in Campbell County. Plans will be shown for the proposed improvements to the section of Route 501 (Brookneal Highway).

President Barack Obama will welcome the undefeated 1972 Super Bowl Champion Miami Dolphins to the White House for the first White House ceremony honoring their historic season this afternoon at 2:00 p.m.. The Dolphins didn't make it to the White House in the months after their victory, as President Richard Nixon was immersed in the Watergate scandal.
