Virginia Western Gets Big Donation For Culinary Program

Posted: Updated:
ROANOKE -

Virginia Western Community College received a big donation today for its culinary program.

The Al Pollard Memorial Foundation donated $500,000 to be used for scholarships and help fund the future of the program. That's on top of the $200,000 they've already received from the foundation.

The college hopes the donation will help attract more students to the program.

"We're drawing students from all over and even beyond our service region which is really really nice," says James Zeisler, program head of culinary program.

Program leaders tell us many of the students end up staying and working at local restaurants.
