A woman accidentally shot herself in the hand while inside the Staples store in Wake Forest Thursday evening.
Wake Forest authorities said Danielle Hayes, of Creekside Drive in Franklinton, will not be charged after her gun discharged inside the store, striking her in the right hand. She did have a carry conceal permit.
Police said Hayes' 2-year-old son grabbed her purse and the gun went off as she attempted to get the purse away from him.

"We never recommend that you keep a gun in your pocketbook, anyway. It's always going to more useable and accessible if it's on the person," said Kevin Smith of Kevin Smith's Firearms Training.
Smith said guns should be kept above the waist and treated as if it is loaded at all times.
"Action versus reaction tells us that you're not going to have time to retrieve that from some remote place on your ankle or stored in a pocketbook or in your vehicle," Smith said.
Law enforcement was notified of the incident just after 7 p.m.
She was transported to Wake Med with non-life threatening injuries.
Local sheriff office's have the authority to deny and revoke concealed carry permits. They can also be taken away by the courts.
