Roanoke College freshman build house

SALEM, VA -

Roanoke College students are back on campus and this weekend marks the start of orientation. Over the next several days, new students will be working together with Habitat for Humanity to build a house from the ground up.

This is the 7th year that this project, called R House, has taken place. It's something that project manager, Steve Davis says is truly incredible to watch happen.

"Its always amazing and to see it go up as fast and as well as it does knowing everyone that's working here are volunteers," says Davis. "This is amazing, many of them have never done this before. So it's an experience watching them and it's always and experience seeing the house go up."

Once orientation is over on Tuesday, the house will be taken to its destination. Then students have the option to visit throughout the year to help finish construction.
