Real Estate one of many new programs offered by Virginia Tech

Posted: Updated:

Fall classes begin today at Virginia Tech.

Students will be able to enroll in many new majors and minors this semester.

One of the new programs offered to students is a degree in real estate.

The program marks the first time that six different colleges have partnered together for one degree at Virginia Tech.

Students will be exposed to every aspect of the real estate process from project conceptualization to sale of property.

The program was designed to give students opportunities to learn and interact with industry leaders. Director of the Real Estate program, Kevin Boyle, says that the development happening in Blacksburg and Roanoke will help students gain practical experience. He says, "having these types of things right in our backyard really facilitates that education."

Boyle says the school hopes to partner with local real estate companies within the next few years. He is currently working with the Virginia Association of Realtors to establish an internship program.

During their senior year, students will also take a studio class where they work on a project from conceptualization to completion. Boyle says,"I think its very likely that the students will be working with local projects to help them be developed."
