Botetourt County promoting tourism through a new grant

Posted: Updated:
BOTETOURT COUNTY -

Botetourt County will soon be launching a new tourism campaign thanks to a major grant.

The county received more than $36,000 from the Virginia Tourism Corporation to help promote the area.

That money will be spent on improving the website, designing new brochures, and developing a new advertising campaign to promote Botetourt's trails and wineries.

Tourism coordinator Lisa Moorman said more people are discovering the area and she hopes this grant will only enhance that.

"It's a huge step because it gives us additional funding we would not have otherwise," she said. "That will help to increase those marketing efforts that we have."

In order to get the grant, the county partnered with Buchanan, Fincastle, Troutville and several wineries to raise more than $73,000 in 2 to 1 matching grants for the project.
